Rules for Aging

Some of you might be familiar with the book, Rules for Aging: Resist Normal Impulses, Live Longer, Attain Perfection, by Roger Rosenblatt.

Rosenblatt's Rule #28 is: "Never go to a cocktail party, and, in any case, do not stay more than 20 minutes."

Rule #52 is: "Live in the past, but don't remember too much."

So how do those of us--anticipating the celebration of our 40th reunion--reconcile these two "rules?" We don't! Reasonably well-adjusted social creatures that we are, we reject the first as pure blather, and seize upon the message of the second, which is that living a little in the past is OK (and with the whole cocktail-party thing, we're apt to not remember too much, which makes it more OK).

The Ladue High Class of '69's Fortieth Cocktail Party...err...Reunion is Saturday, July 18, 2009, 6:30-12M, at the St. Louis Zoo, The McDonnell Center at River Camp. Festive attire!

Watch for your formal invitation...and for further developments on the planning of Friday night's activities.
