Rules for Aging

Some of you might be familiar with the book, Rules for Aging: Resist Normal Impulses, Live Longer, Attain Perfection, by Roger Rosenblatt.

Rosenblatt's Rule #28 is: "Never go to a cocktail party, and, in any case, do not stay more than 20 minutes."

Rule #52 is: "Live in the past, but don't remember too much."

So how do those of us--anticipating the celebration of our 40th reunion--reconcile these two "rules?" We don't! Reasonably well-adjusted social creatures that we are, we reject the first as pure blather, and seize upon the message of the second, which is that living a little in the past is OK (and with the whole cocktail-party thing, we're apt to not remember too much, which makes it more OK).

The Ladue High Class of '69's Fortieth Cocktail Party...err...Reunion is Saturday, July 18, 2009, 6:30-12M, at the St. Louis Zoo, The McDonnell Center at River Camp. Festive attire!

Watch for your formal invitation...and for further developments on the planning of Friday night's activities.

Check in with us here, www.ladue69.blogspot.com, and register/update your profile on the Ladue Alumni website, http://www.laduealum.com/.

Live a little!

Thanks Buddy for getting this blog up. Where is everybody - let's hear from you! I hope you will be at the reunion - I'm am looking into airfare from San Diego. I'm on the other side of the country, so I expect those who only need to come from the other side of town to be there!

My #1 rule for aging - Lie about your age! or at least don't admit it. It's hard to do with you guys since we all know how old we are. My dear Aunt Marcelle used to say, "Darling, never tell people your age - they will treat you as if you are that age!"

Have fun
Zeeyazoon!

just looked up Marti Kranzberg's site. you have a wonderful voice and I can't wait to see your face (so I can remember who you are!)I,along with Joan Boldizar started "performing" at talent shows at East Ladue and I haven't stopped... Speaking of aging, becoming a grandmother (his name is Jack) makes one realize we are not 35 anymore!! On the other hand, there is a kind of renewal in holding the children of our children.
Re. aging, my advice is to be authentic, whatever the age. In that, there is true beauty.
